Counterpoint Market Intelligence Limited was formed by George Burton and Richard Apps in 2004 to offer original, independent and rigorous research into aerospace markets. Between them, George and Richard have 49 years of experience in senior positions in aerostructures, engine components, and aerospace equipment.
PrincipalsGeorge Burton has a degree from Oxford University in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. He was Research Partner of a City of London stockbroker and was Strategic Planning and Business Development Director of first Westland Aerospace and then GKN Aerospace.
Richard Apps has degree from Cambridge University in Engineering and an MBA from Manchester University. He worked in production management at Marconi Avionics and was Group Strategic Planning Manager for Westland Group. In GKN Aerospace he worked on strategic planning, business development and the evaluation of acquisitions.

In General Dynamics, he worked in business planning and alliances, focusing on international strategic planning, offsets, and business development. Jon has degrees from the University of Miami (International Relations and Geography) and from the London School of Economics (Politics and Government in the European Union).

Our customers
Counterpoint has an international business, with 75% of sales outside the UK. Sales of research reports are complemented by our consultancy work. Two thirds of sales are to the aerospace industry – aircraft and engine prime contractors and first and second tier suppliers. Other clients are private equity funds, investment banks and government organisations.
